I really wanted to write a love song for the state of Texas. They get a bad rap for being overran by conservative, trigger happy folk and most everyone we've ever met from there has been level headed boho types or punk rock kids down to party and be hospitable. We really love the state and this song was written for all our friends there.
The guest vocals Hannah Jackson did on this song almost didn't happen. I kept arguing that well you need to be a fan of Texas and have been there at least once to sing about how much you love it, blah blah blah. But in the end, Eris won with the argument that LFT seems like a boys club and that we needed to be more female friendly. Hannah's voice rules and I'm glad we included her on the track.

lyrics
Texas is god's dirty basement
where punk rock shows are revivals for the heart
though we all love being cynical
when the beat kicks in we know where it starts
all the love we feel in Midland is lovelier than belief
not to leave Washington out of it
they're just as special to me
punk rock lives in texas
like it lives inside our van
among the dirty clothes from last year's tours
everlasting like the floorboard stained with trash and sand
